Heather Mills, the former wife of Sir Paul McCartney, has been lined up to appear in Channel 4's daredevil winter sports show The Jump.

Mills - who was divorced from The Beatles star in 2008 - is an experienced skier and has competed for Britain, winning a World Cup silver medal.

The former model, who lost a leg after she was hit by a police motorbike two decades ago, missed out on being considered for the Paralympic team for Sochi after a row about the type of specially adapted boot she wished to use.

The line-up for The Jump will be officially announced at a later date but it is understood she is to take part in the second series of the show.

Competitors will also include Mike Tindall, the husband of Zara Phillips.

The thrills and spills show features events such as speed skating, bobsleigh, slalom skiing and each programme concludes with two competitors taking part in a ski jump to decide who is eliminated.

The first series of The Jump was won by 2009 X Factor winner Joe McElderry. It was marked by a series of injuries among contestants with socialite Henry Conway breaking a bone in his hand and Melinda Messenger withdrawing as a result of concussion suffered on the bobsleigh track.

Two of the finalists, Sir Steve Redgrave and comedian Marcus Brigstocke, were also unable to complete the finale after they too were hurt.
