Benefits: 37 Years On The Dole, Channel 5, 8pm

A typically, er, "imaginative" Channel 5 title given that 37 years is actually the combined amount of time this programme's three participants have spent out of work. Still, it's a fair old number of years however you style it. The three are Stephen, a qualified chef who hasn't had a job for seven years; Multiple Sclerosis-sufferer Michelle, who hasn't worked since 1997 and claims £20,000 a year in benefits; and Keith, who has been on the dole for well over a decade and is now only a few years away from retirement age. He has sent off around 2000 job applications, all to no avail, while Michelle also has the police to worry about: some of her benefit money goes towards growing cannabis to help alleviate her painful condition.

Scientologists At War, Channel 4, 11.05pm

Another chance to see Joseph Martin's Channel 4 documentary about Scientology's highest level defector - Marty Rathburn, formerly number two to the Church's leader David Miscavige and an Inspector General of the Church's Religious Technology Centre. If you check the credits you'll see Tom Cruise's name, though he only appears in archive footage. Others are also interviewed about the Church and the techniques it uses against those who leave - there's a sinister-sounding group called the Squirrel Squad which is allegedly used to harass defectors - but it's Rathburn's insider testimony which is the most gripping and eye-opening.
