Glittering prize

Fashion brand Converse and Dazed and Confused magazine have teamed up with The Whitechapel Gallery in London again this year for the Emerging Artist Award. They have put out a call for entries, which will see the winner receive a £6000 cash prize, with three other shortlisted artists receiving £1000 each. The award, founded in 2010, aims to offer a platform for emerging artists. The judging panel includes Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, Whitechapel Gallery curator Kirsty Ogg and Dazed and Confused visual arts editor Francesca Gavin. The prize is open to all artists under 35 and will be announced at the Whitechapel Gallery. The shortlisted artists will create original, site-specific pieces for a group show, on display at a gallery near the Whitechapel Gallery this autumn.
