n GLASGOW Print Studio will host The Medium is the Message: An Evening of Music and Words on September 6, in conjunction with its current exhibition.

There will be readings from Alasdair Gray and Alan Spence and music from Alasdair Roberts and David McGuiness.

n THE work of a new generation of design talent from Scotland will be showcased next month as part of the London Design Festival at the V&A in London. The exhibition, Designing for the Future, will present the best new work by graduates from Scottish art schools. The work displayed covers a wide variety of design disciplines including fashion, graphics, product and interior design.

n THE Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh has launched a search for 50 emerging writers, to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013. Those selected will be invited to take part in a series of writing events throughout 2013, with plays by the chosen 50 performed on various stages at the Traverse. Applicants should submit a 500-word Play for Edinburgh and a 250 word covering letter. The deadline for submissions is November 14, and The Traverse Fifty will be announced on December 19.

n HEAR Glasgow! will host a month-long events and training programme from August 30, aimed at giving young people access to quality music opportunities and experiences. Events will include YRock, which offers gigging opportunities for young bands, songwriting sessions and access to industry mentors.
