Artist Laura Edbrook's exhibition The Copyist Sky blue and yellow has opened at the Changing Room at the Tolbooth in Stirling.

She has created a new audio and visual installation for the space that explores ideas of language.

The West of Scotland School Orchestra Trust will hold their yearly showcase at Glasgow's City Halls on August 21. Featuring performances from the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra and the West of Scotland Schools Concert Band, the showcase will include a rendition of Peter Graham's 44 Scotland Street. The symphony orchestra will also perform Rimsky Korsakov's Sheherazade.

Dunoon Burgh Hall's forthcoming exhibition will showcase the work of Scottish painter Kirsty Wither. This exhibition is in collaboration with Cowal Open Studios and begins on September 7.

Ian Davison and Carissa Bovill will appear in the next in the series of Live at the Star gigs on August 16. Held at Glasgow's St Andrew's in the Square, the gig will feature Davison's songs, which have been recorded by singers including Peggy Seeger, Archie Fisher and Brian McNeill in the past. Bovill trained at the Royal Academy and Glasgow University and is a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist.

Students from Edinburgh Napier University are helping to bring poetry to the masses after launching a new event at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival. The event, titled Impro Slam, will see four performance poets battling it out against each other to create the most entertaining and poems.
