l FORMER Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell, who recently performed at King Tut's in Glasgow, next month plays a more intimate show for 40 folk in a room overlooking the Kyles of Bute.

l DOLLY Parton's 9 to 5: The Musical will be making a swift return to Glasgow's King's Theatre, such has been the demand for tickets for its Scottish Premiere week, which kicks off on Monday. The show runs until November 17, but will be returning to the same venue after the panto season with performances from January 8 to January 12, 2013.

l EDINBURGH'S Morningside Gallery on the south side of Edinburgh is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has secured a show of contemporary Romantic colourist Hugo Grenville, a former army captain whose pastel-shaded portraits, nudes and still lives are in the collections of the Duke of Devonshire, the Ministry of Defence and Edinburgh City Council. It opens tomorrow and runs to the end of the month.
