l The Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Awards have honoured a former player for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), who has scooped the award for Peripatetic Music Teacher of the Year.

Stephen West was RSNO Principal Cor Anglais until a lip injury caused him to leave in 2005, and now teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and as an instrumental instructor at schools in East Renfrewshire.

The award was presented as part of the Music For Youth Schools Prom concerts, which took place last week at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
