l As ever, the new show at Cyril Gerber Fine Art in Glasgow features many famous names. The Winter Collection 2012 includes works by Joan Eardley, Philip Reeves, Annie Frech and JD Fergusson to name but a random few. To view the works, all of which are for sale, visit 178 West Regent Street, Glasgow or www.gerberfineart.co.uk.

l At Glasgow Print Studio the Yule show, Impressions, has a list hardly less illustrious, with Elizabeth Blackaddder, John Byrne, Ashley Cook, Elspeth Lamb and Adrian Wiszniewski among the printmakers whose work is available for immediate wrapping and gifting from 103 Trongate or www.glasgowprintstudio.co.uk.

l Is it better to be on the list than a gatecrasher? Diane Dawson's new exhibition at Milngavie's Lillie Art Gallery has the intriguing premise of exploring the "social mythology" of Truman Capote's Black and White Ball. In 1966 an invitation to the writer's Bal Masque was the epitome of the hot ticket. Capote's social engineering will be compared with issues of exclusion in today's society in the exhibition, which opens on January 12.
