Ant Law quartet takes jazz to the Bridge

Bridge Music's Thursday jazz series at Glasgow Art Club continues tonight with London-based Scottish guitarist Ant Law's quartet playing music inspired by Law's extensive studies on New York's vibrant downtown jazz scene.

Trumpeter Steve Fishwick's international sextet follows on February 13, with Dick Lee's popular Dr Lee's Prescription returning on February 20 and Los Angeles saxophone star Don Menza, whose CV includes work with Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Louie Bellson, Nancy Sinatra and Leonard Cohen, providing a real coup on February 27, all subject to confirmation of funds from Creative Scotland.

Rutkowski album release

Singer Louise Rutkowski, who was one of the voices on the 4AD label's 1980s supergroup This Mortal Coil, sang with Glasgow group Sunset Gun, and combined forces with film composer Craig Armstrong on the 1993 album The Kindness of Strangers, has a new album out this month, funded by friends and supporters through PledgeMusic.

Diary of a Lost Girl is her first solo album, and the product of a writing partnership with Irvin Duguid and will be launched at Glasgow Print Studio in the Trongate 103 building on the evening of Valentine's Day.
