Kerry Katona has spoken of the traumatic birth of her fifth child after the baby's heart stopped just moments after the delivery.

Former Atomic Kitten star Katona revealed there were also fears for her own life when she suffered heavy blood loss after daughter Dylan-Jorge Rose was born earlier this month.

In an interview with this week's OK! magazine, she said: "I thought, this is it, we're both going to die."

Katona experienced contractions 10 days before the due date, but her complications did not become apparent until the baby was lying on her chest and she said she had a "weird sensation that something wasn't right".

"Ten minutes after giving birth she was on my chest and she collapsed. She stopped breathing and her heart stopped," the former chart star said.

The tot was taken to intensive care and revived after what Katona's partner George Kay estimated to be around eight minutes without breathing.

Meanwhile the singer began experiencing troubles of her own.

"I was losing loads and loads of blood because the placenta didn't come out and it burst inside me. I was in shock.

"In a split second we went from tears of joy, and holding our baby, to chaos," she added.

However staff at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital managed to bring both of them back from the brink.

Kay told the magazine: "In 12 hours Dylan went from death's door to a perfectly healthy baby."
