Venture out of city for Sounds In The Suburbs

Sounds In The Suburbs, the promoters who specialise in taking music to venues outside the city centre circuit, have announced two extra summer concerts at Woodend Tennis and Bowling Club in Jordanhill.

Frances McKee, of Glasgow alt-rockers The Vaselines, plays a rare extracurricular gig, with her sister Marie on backing vocals, on Sunday, July 6, and ex-Silencer JJ Gilmour appears with keyboardist Phil Kane on Sunday, July 27.

Sounds In The Suburbs are planning an autumn programme, with Texas singer-songwriter Carrie Rodriguez and Vic Godard And The Subway so far confirmed.

Famous face is lined up for duet

James Yorkston's forthcoming single Great Ghosts, due for release on August 18, will feature a duet with one-time Fence Collective singer, now international star KT Tunstall.

The single is lifted from Yorkston's album The Cellardyke Recording And Waissailing Society, which will be released on the same date by the Fife singer-songwriter's regular label, Domino Records. An album launch gig, with appearances by The Pictish Trail and KT Tunstall, will be part of the Unbound strand at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on August 24.
