Manuelita story told in words and live music
MANUELA Saenz died in poverty, almost forgotten in the Peruvian city of Paita. But now the story of this revolutionary who captured the spirit of a continent and became the beating heart of South American liberation as well as a proto-feminist, an underground spy and lover of Simon Bolivar is being told in words and music in the Edinburgh Fringe production of Manuelita. Written and performed by Tamsin Clarke, with live music by Columbian guitarist Camila Menjura, the show arrives in Edinburgh having won the CASA Latin American Theatre Festival Scratch Award and runs at Underbelly Cowgate from July 31 to August 24 at 12.40pm.

Regeneration in Edinburgh
THE stage adaptation of Pat Barker's Booker-nominated novel Regeneration comes home to its Edinburgh setting at the end of September. The Touring Consortium co-production with Northampton's Royal and Derngate company opens in Northhampton before visiting the King's Theatre from September 30 to October 4. The play, an adaptation by Nicholas Wright directed by Simon Godwin, is set in Edinburgh's Craiglockart Hospital in 1917 and tells the story of psychiatrist Wiliam Rivers and his shell-shocked patients, including Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Graves and Wilfred Owen.

Click Clack celebration
ECLECTIC Edinburgh musical adventurers Click Clack Club celebrate their 49 promotion on Thursday July 24. CCC founders saxophonist Steve Kettley, bass guitarist Dave Conway and drummer Des Travis will open the night, performing in their guise as zany improvisers Snibbo.
