Ivo Graham speaks to HeraldScotland about Frosties, grandmothers, and being up past his bedtime.
1 Tell us about your Fringe show
Talking a fair bit about my schooling (posh) and my girlfriend (brunette) without coming across as too much of an arse. Other topics: Frosties, grandmothers, Carlton Palmer's favourite films.
2 Best thing about the Fringe?
The long idle days (weeks 1-2).
3 Worst thing about the Fringe?
The long idle days (weeks 3-4).
4 How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?
This is my fifth. Not enough for full on veteran status, but no spotty newbie either. I know where most of the best pies are by now.
5 Favourite Fringe venue?
Did the Stand on the Square last night and thought it was absolutely beautiful. But probably the Tron because it's where I did my first Fringe show and so the place absolutely reeks with nostalgia (as well as urine and BO).
6 Best Fringe memory?
Arthur's Seat at dawn on the last night of the 2012 Fringe, with a bunch of my dearest friends, all in fancy dress. Suffice it to say Facebook profile pictures took care of themselves for a while after that.
7 Best heckle?
"Isn't it past your bedtime?" on the first night of the Comedy Zone in 2010. Fair play to her, it was.
8 Craziest on stage experience?
Mainly being up past my bedtime every night during my month at the Comedy Zone in 2010. What a thrill!
9 What's on your rider?
Two big old iced waters, one backstage for me and one waiting onstage when I come out. I think there are bigger divas out there.
10 How do you wind down after a show?
A quick half of Heineken, a cheeky cigarette (sorry mum), and then off to watch another show, either by a comedian who's worse than me or so much better as to not merit comparison.
11 What do you love about Scotland?
The flag. White cross on black background! What were they on?
12 What do you like about Edinburgh?
The meadows. God, I love the bloody meadows.
13 What's the most Scottish thing you've done?
Attempted to seek independence from someone I'm actually still massively financially dependent on (moving out of my parents' house after university).
14 What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?
Funny ones, usually. No reverse psychology there.
15 Favourite joke?
Milton Jones on Mock the Week a few weeks ago: "I was very disappointed by Mr Messi at the World Cup... nothing like the books at all."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
