HeraldScotland talks to Julian McCullough about fighting Londoners, Russian jokes and Billy Connolly.
Tell us about your Fringe show
Dream Girls is a show about screwing up relationships over and over because I didn't learn anything. Until I did.
How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?
Very exciting, mostly terrifying.
If you were not a performer/comedian what would you be doing?
Drinking myself to death and being late to my factory job every morning.
What do your family think of your show?
They claim to like it but I come from liars.
How do you combat pre-gig nerves?
By not preparing or thinking about it until I'm on stage. Its not "smart."
Worst on stage experience?
Giving it all I have and doing OK. I'd rather bomb than get a tepid response.
How do you recover from a hefty heckle? Do you have a set of stock replies?
No I get very honest and very specific right away. If you heckle me you are going to find out the truth about yourself.
What do you love about Scotland?
The anticipation of coming to Scotland because I've never been there before!
What do you like about Edinburgh?
Americans think it's a very cool city so saying you're going there makes you seem cool. Also, that it's pronounced a lot sexier than it's spelled.
What's the most Scottish thing you've done?
I got really drunk at a bar and got in a fight with a guy from London.
Who's your favourite Scottish comedian?
Billy Connolly. Who also likes the incredible string band which is also my favorite Scottish band.

Favourite joke?
A Russian barber tried to tell me a Russian joke one time but he couldn't translate it so he just said, "its about a guy who goes into the woods with his wife and comes out without his wife. Because he killed her." I loved that more than any real joke I've ever heard.
