Kenyan warriors jump on to a charity mission
The Osiligi Maasai Warriors from southern Kenya perform at Renfield St Stephens Church in Glasgow on Thursday, September 11.
The seven-piece group, who perform authentic, very physical tribal song and dance including Maasai jumping, have toured annually since 2007 and from the proceeds have established a charity to help improve the infrastructure of their home villages, building water stations as well as a new church-cum-community centre and a state-of-the art primary school.
Their next project is the construction of a small medical centre, and ticket sales from this concert will go towards achieving this aim.
The performance begins at 7pm.

Chapman heads back to Glasgow
LEGENDARY guitarist and singer-songwriter Michael Chapman headlines the Star Folk Club in Glasgow's September programme with an appearance at the Admiral Bar on Tuesday 9.
Chapman has enjoyed a remarkable upswing in popularity in recent years, with re-issues of his classic 1970s albums earning rave reviews and new recordings winning the Yorkshireman a new generation of fans.
He returns to Glasgow in a series that also features folk-bluegrass duo Jenn Butterworth and Laura-Beth Salter (September 2), highly rated guitarist Gren Bartley with singer-songwriter Julia Disney (16), Appalachian folk specialists Dana and Susan Robinson (23), and Irish singer-songwriter Ben Sands (30).

Mela magic for the Fruitmarket
Glasgow Music is presenting a series of multimedia shows under the Fruitmarket Nights banner beginning on September 5 with The King of Ghosts, a collaboration between the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Edinburgh Mela, and rising world music star Soumik Datta.
An internationally acclaimed composer and player of the sarod, or Indian lute, Datta has performed with Beyonce, Jay-Z, Talvin Singh and Bill Bailey. He has also recorded with Anoushka Shankar and composed for Shakespearean works at the National Theatre. In The King of Ghosts he will perform a brand new score by Oscar-winning Bollywood master Satyajit Ray while film scenes are projected overhead.

Islands tour for jazz singer Rae
Singer Cathie Rae is heading out on the road from September 10 on a tour of bijou venues that takes her and her four-piece band to some of the remotest locations of Scotland's Highland and Islands, through to a Mull date on September 30.
Lewis, Lismore, Skye and North Uist are also on the agenda, as well as Durness and Shetland.
Rae's associates for the dates in her Cat's Club band are pianist Paul Harrison, Mario Caribe on bass, guitarist Graeme Stephen and drummer John Lowrie, while the repertoire will include songs by Elvis Costello and Stevie Wonder alongside jazz standards.
