Arbroath venue marks 25th anniversary
One of Scotland's longest-serving jazz venues, Jazz at Hospitalfield in Arbroath, approaches its 25th anniversary with an autumn programme including Remembering Chet, a tribute to west-coast jazz icon Chet Baker by trumpeter Colin Steele, above, vocalist Iain Ewing and pianist Euan Stevenson on September 20.
Also appearing at the Angus country house and arts centre are Dutch violin virtuoso Tim Kliphuis' trio, who honour the swing sound of Stephane Grappelli, on October 25.

Folk stars head for Stirling
Stirling Folk Club has announced its programme for next month.
Lanarkshire traditional band Rudegein appear on September 1 followed by Glasgow traditional singer Mick West with his band, Dutch blues singer-guitarist Hans Theessink, contemporary folk trio Rallion, and Irish singer-songwriter Ben Sands of the internationally regarded Sands Family. The club meets every Monday at Stirling Rugby Club on Causewayhead Road.

Three styles in Fife festival
Fife Jazz Club celebrates its sixth anniversary on Sunday, September 14 with a mini-festival of three concerts featuring three different jazz styles in three venues in North Queensferry.
The High Society Jazz Band presents traditional jazz in the Albert Hotel from 2pm to 4pm. There's vocal jazz in the Ferrybridge Hotel with Liz Dicks, Tina Hahn and friends from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, and Inverkeithing Community Big Band plays big-band swing in North Queensferry Community Centre from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The event is part of the Forth Bridges Festival marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Forth Road Bridge.

Dankworth hits Aberdeen scene
Aberdeen promoters Jazz at the Blue Lamp begin a new programme of weekly jazz concerts at the popular venue in Gallowgate with singer Jacqui Dankworth guesting on Thursday September 11.
Also appearing this autumn are Quincy Jones-endorsed drummer Ollie Howell's quintet, revived 1980s favourites,the Kyle-Keddie Sextet, guitarist Kevin Mackenzie's duo with pianist Dave Milligan, and the great British keeper of Charlie Parker's flame, alto saxophonist Peter King.

Learning to teach about jazz
There are only a handful of places left at the Scottish Jazz Federation's jazz education conference at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on Friday.
Making the Changes - Practical Approaches for Jazz Education features contributions from top players in Scotland, with workshops including Phil Bancroft talking about musical creativity in early years and primary schools, Tommy Smith and John Wallace on undergraduate study, Chris Greive on working with mixed-ability groups and Richard Michael sharing his expertise of youth jazz orchestras.
