Nathan Caton discusses life, late night gigs and Scottish insults.

Tell us about your Fringe show

It's my life in the last year told in an hour (as best as possible). So, that includes stories about me still living at home, going on my mate's stag-do, as well as my take on things in the news too.

Best thing about the Fringe?

Doing what I love... stand-up comedy.

Worst thing about the Fringe?

Not having a summer. All of my friends are going abroad and enjoying the break whereas I'm in Edinburgh... no offence Scotland.

How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?

I've been at the Fringe 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 and obviously this year too.

Favourite Fringe venue?

Pleasance 10Dome... Cos that's the venue I'm performing in... Hint, hint.

Best Fringe memory?

Doing the first night of my first hour show in 2009. Leading up to it I was so nervous as I was unsure if I could do a whole hour on stage... The feeling afterwards knowing that I had done it was incredible.

Best heckle?

I was once performing and a mobile phone went off. I looked to see who it was and it was my uncle in the second row. Worse thing was, he then answered the phone! That count?

Craziest on stage experience?

I've done a few late-night gigs at the Fringe... Need I say more?

What’s on your rider?

I don't have one. I'm not that successful yet.

How do you wind down after a show?

In Edinburgh, probably get some food. Although last year I spent most of my after-show time heading back to my flat to watch the Commonwealth Games highlights or football highlights.

What do you love about Scotland?

The people are lovely as!

What do you like about Edinburgh?

Some of the architecture here is beautiful!

What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

I've learnt some Scottish insults, had haggis and been bought a Hibernian football top. Haven't done the wearing a kilt yet, although that is on my list.

What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?

Funny ones.

Nathan Caton will perform at the Pleasance Dome on August 5-16 and 18-30.
