BRIAN Ó hEadhra and Fiona Mackenzie, of Gaelic quartet Cruinn, have formed a new musical partnership as a duo and have announced a series of dates beginning on March 24. The Inverness-based couple, who toured the world together in the folk group Anam during the 1990s, perform traditional and contemporary songs from Scotland, Ireland and beyond and had a song they co-wrote for Cruinn shortlisted in the Best Traditional Track category at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2015. Their first gig, to be held at La Tortilla in Inverness tomorrow is a fundraiser in aid of refugee crisis victims. They then play the Cèilidh Place, Ullapool on Friday going on to Leith Folk Club on March 29, South Uist Folk Club on April 1, and Taigh Chearsabhagh on North Uist on April 2.

EDINBURGH promoters Click Clack stage a poetry and music evening on Thursday, March 31 for the latest instalment of their monthly series of promotions at Henry’s Cellar Bar. Poets Jenny Lindsay and Rachel McCrum, of Rally & Broad (pictured) will appear on a triple bill with jazz and funk quartet Melody Schmelody and Captain Beefheart celebrants Orange Claw Hammer. Orange Claw Hammer will also play at Mad Hatters in Inverness the following evening. Click Clack events begin at 7pm.
