BUZZCUT is a group of artists from Glasgow who create and support "rad experimental performance and live art". We put on a 5 day festival every April in Govan, and do a bunch of other stuff throughout the year including //DOUBLE THRILLS// our monthly double bills of performance at the CCA where we would love to welcome more Herald readers.
We know the Fringe programme is totally stressfully overwhelming, so we thought we’d pass on our top picks that we’re super-mega-excited about. If you check out these beauties we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Rosana Cade, Walking:Holding at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, August 17 to 20
BUZZCUT co-founder Rosana Cade is returning to Edinburgh with her super amazing walking performance for one audience member at a time, where you’re guided through the streets of Edinburgh whilst holding hands with different local people. It’s beautiful and tender and you’ll love it.
FK Alexander with Okishma Island Tourist Association, (I Could Go On Singing) Over The Rainbow, at Summerhall, running to August 28
FK Alexander is Judy Garland accompanied by a noise band. Emotionally transformative, fiercely intimate and unlike anything you’ve seen.
Mamoru Iriguchi, 4D Cinema, at Summerhall, running to August 28
We love Mamoru! With a pink suit and a cinema screen headpiece, he guides you through a surreal and wistful journey of the life of Marlene Dietrich told via the mediums of 3D cinema and 4D cinema (you’ll find out what we mean by that).
Lucy McCormick, Triple Threat, at Underbelly, Cowgate, running to August 28
Lucy’s been tearing up queer clubs and raves for a while and we’re so excited she’s coming up to Scotland with her totally wild re-staging of The New Testament – with backing dancers, power ballads and mega hilarity. (pictured)
Christeene, Trigger at Underbelly, Cowgate, running to August 28
Christeene is our favourite punk-drag-monster that’s ever crawled around on one of our stages. This show’s a wild, raging, call to arms dance party against the horror of the past few months. Come 'n' get it y’all.
Forest Fringe at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, August 11 to 20
Happy 10th birthday Forest Fringe! For a decade they’ve been lurking on the corners of the Fringe with their own separate subversive, experimental programme of exceptional performance and this year is no different. Go and see EVERYTHING. Seriously.
Rachael Clerke and The Great White Males, Cuncrete at Summerhall, running to August 26
We’ve wanted to see this one for ages! Bristol superstar Rachael Clerke has brought together a drag-king punk band of alpha-masculine sleazeballs to shout about Architecture, Idealism and The Man. They also have the best website we’ve ever seen.
Julia Croft, If there’s not Dancing at the Revolution I’m Not Coming at Summerhall, running to August 28
A super intriguing-looking show over from New Zealand ripping apart the spectacle of women’s bodies and popular culture and "exploding them in feminist confetti". We’re there.
Figs in Wigs, Often Onstage at Pleasance Dome, running to August 26
We’ve watched the Figs in Wigs eat desert for dessert, talk extensively about tiny objects, be a backstreet boys tribute band and make a song entirely out of food puns. This new show is about coming off and on stage. Often. It’s going to be great.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
