MUNDELL Music, who bringing heritage rock, folk and country acts to the Green Hotel in Kinross, have Colin Blunstone, the lead singer with 1960s hitmakers the Zombies, at the venue on Saturday January 28. Blunstone was the voice on the group's She’s Not There and later went on to solo success with hits including Say You Don’t Mind and I Don’t Believe in Miracles before scoring further successes on singles and album tracks with Dave Stewart (of Hatfield & the North) and the Alan Parsons Project. Mundell Music also welcome Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, Fife-born singer-songwriter Rab Noakes, Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack, former Everly Brothers and Emmylou Harris’s Hot Band guitarist Albert Lee, and cult New York singer and political commentator Garland Jeffreys to Kinross in the coming weeks.

FLAMENCO-jazz guitarist Eduardo Niebla plays three concerts in the Borders in February. Niebla was born in Tangiers and grew up in Spain, where he learned to play flamenco on the streets. He later moved to London, where he busked in Covent Garden in a guitar duo with Edinburgh Fringe regular Antonio Forcione before going on to collaborate with prog legends Mother Gong, sitarist Nishat Khan, saxophonist Lol Coxhill, Palestinian oud player Adel Salameh, George Michael, and Craig David. He is currently working with string quartets and choirs. The tour begins at Mac Arts, Galashiels on Sunday, February 12 followed by Hermitage Hall, Hawick (13th), and Eyemouth Hippodrome (14th).

PUPILS at Douglas Academy in Milngavie, north of Glasgow, will enjoy the inspirational presence of former pupils The Ayoub Sisters tomorrow. Sarah and Laura Ayoub have been championed by Classic FM, and played London's Royal Albert Hall for one of the radio station's concerts, in the company of the RSNO.

Recently signed to Decca, other parties impressed by their strings and piano performances have included music producer Mark Ronson. The duo, still in their early 20s – now have a globe-trotting performance schedule, but are back at their old school for a concert and a Q&A session from 11am.

HANDS Up for Trad has created The Tour Directory, a free online service point for artists, venues and promoters to access new collaborative working opportunities.

The directory offers free information to artists who are looking to make their mark on the traditional music touring circuit as well as promoters and venues throughout Scotland.

The project was piloted in 2016.

Hands Up for Trad exists to promote Scottish traditional music through education, information and advocacy to artists, audiences and participants throughout Scotland and beyond.
