THE EXPO Fund for Scotland's festivals is to be opened to allow Glasgow's visual arts festival.
Glasgow International (GI), which opens in the city this week, will be able to apply for Scottish Government’s Festivals Expo funding for the first time in 2019-20.
GI will be eligible to apply for funding to support the 2020 edition of the festival for the first time.
The Expo Fund was also recently opened to Celtic Connections: it was initially established to fund Edinburgh festivals.
Richard Parry, Director, Glasgow International, said: "In only a little over a decade GI has firmly established itself as one of the key dates in the global visual arts calendar. This year we have upwards of 270 artists taking part from over 30 countries, but with the majority living in the city itself, demonstrating the strength of the scene."

A LAST call for entries is being made by Scotland's leading crime writing award.
The McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Book of the Year will be awarded at the Bloody Scotland festival on September 21.
Eligible books must have been first published in the UK between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018 and written by a writer who is born in Scotland or lives in Scotland or set in Scotland.
Novels, collections of short stories and non-fiction crime titles are eligible for submission.
This year the judges are Susan Calman, Alison Flood, and Craig Sisterson, who is chair.
Bloody Scotland is Scotland’s International Crime Writing Festival set up by a group of Scottish crime writers - Alex Gray and Lin Anderson, later joined by Gordon Brown and Craig Robertson - in 2012.
This year it will take place from 21-23 September this year.

SCOTTISH Ballet is about to embark on a tour of the Highland & Islands.
Following the Highlands & Islands tour of Matthew Bourne’s Highland Fling the company travel to South Korea, Hong Kong and Macao for a tour of Hansel & Gretel.
The Highland fling tour dates include shows at Clickimin Main Hall in Lerwick, the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall, the Atlantis Leisure centre in Oban and the Lewis Sports Centre, Stornoway.
