Adam Rowe's new stand-up show Undeniable is on at Just The Tonic – Big Cave from August 2 - 26 (except 13th).

  • What is your Fringe show about?

How being from a working class background, is seen as a disadvantage in the arts industry, but that it can teach you attitudes and attributes that mean it’s your biggest advantage. I’m from one of the roughest areas of Liverpool, was raised by an alcoholic single mother and I refuse to be told that those things are going to hold me back in life.

  • How many times/years have you appeared at the Fringe?

This is my third solo show at the Fringe, but my fourth year in total. I first came as part of the Big Value Showcase in 2014, then came back with my debut hour in 2016. I haven’t missed a year since and don’t plan to any time soon - I LOVE the Fringe.

  • What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

The hills!!! I feel like if I go somewhere, I go up a hill and then on the way back, I go up a hill. There’s so much walking to be done during the Fringe; flyering, walking to shows, to the shops etc. The whole festival needs to just be put on one flat street, to save us all from shin splints.

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

I’d either be an accountant, an actuary or running a bar. I was studying a maths degree, before I dropped out to be a comedian, but I honestly don’t know whether I could have ever done the 9-5 thing in an office. I absolutely loved working in bars though and I think I’d have probably stayed in that game had I not found comedy.

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

Very minimally. In Edinburgh I’m usually flyering right up until the minute before I go on stage; this leads to very sweaty performances that start with me trying to catch my breath.

  • Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?

Tempting Tattie. The baked potato shop on Jeffrey Street. The best jacket spuds on the planet; I have one almost everyday while I’m there.

What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

Watched an England game and hoped they lost. That’s about as Scottish as it gets right? That’s on your nationality test, surely?

  • Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Irn Bru! The hangover cure sent from God!

  • Sum up your show in three words

Proper funny, mate.
