Brainiac Ed answers our questions.

  • Tell us about your Fringe show

Brainiac Live! is a truly explosive family show where we delve into the world of science to deliver all those experiments that you’re too scared …or are too dangerous….to do at home.

It’s great fun and after 10 years of mixing Science and Entertainment on the road we can honestly say our audience love it! Prepare to be immersed, engaged and to release your inner Brainiac.

  • How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

We've been very lucky to perform at some amazing places all over the world including the Sydney Opera House and The Palace Theatre in London’s West End and are now really excited to be adding the Fringe this list. It’s been something we've wanted to do for a while and are very pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of it.

  • Why did you decide to perform at the Fringe?

Having returned from the Sydney Opera House earlier this year, we were invited to Edinburgh by Underbelly with whom we previously worked with in London and Hong Kong. We’ve refreshed the show for its' 10th Anniversary and It’s a great opportunity for us to introduce Brainiac Live! to both a local and visiting audience and hopefully to be invited to tour for another 10 years!

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

Alongside being a Brainiac I have worked and continue to work as a DJ and music producer. So, I would have to say something within the music industry. In fact I’m looking forward to checking out the music scene in Edinburgh

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

Arriving early is best for me. I like to make sure I've got plenty of time to get into character and make sure I’m looking my best!!

  • Best/worst advice you’ve been given ahead of your debut show?

Worst Advice: 'Break A Leg' - as we perform some daring science stunts I think breaking a leg is not the advice to take!!

Best Advice: 'Enjoy Every Show' - we are very lucky to be able to perform on stage in a show we love. We try to inspire the younger generation. If we are enjoying ourselves then the audience will be with us.

  • Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?

I’ve only been to Edinburgh once before so looking forward to spending some time getting to know the city and the surroundings. With so much variety at the Fringe I’ll be checking out lots of other performances as well.

  • What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

I once tried to play the bagpipes. I found out its really hard and I never tried again. You never know I might have another go in Edinburgh.

  • Favouite Scottish food/drink?

Nothing like an Irn Bru and I tried Haggis before and loved it!

  • Sum up your show in three words

Explosive, Entertaining, Science
