Asad Mecci talks about Hyprov: Improvisation Under Hypnosis.

1 Tell us about your Fringe show

The show is Hyprov, it is improve under hypnosis. I will start off by hypnotising volunteers from the audience and then Colin and I will improvise with them. The show is absolutely hilarious. Every show is different because the subjects are constantly changing show to show. It is the ultimate comedy high wire act.

2 How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

It is extremely exciting! I heard about the Fringe festival for the first time when I was performing in Banff. After seeing the show, I was accosted by a fan who happened to be from the UK. He said, "you have to go to Edinburgh and perform at the Fringe festival, it is the best in the world". Sure enough, I looked it up and saw what a tour de force the festival has become. I've been wanting to perform at the festival ever since.

3 Best live act seen at Fringe?

Never been, but I have heard nothing but good things about Limbo.

4 Best thing about the Fringe?

All the cultures and art forms coming together under one roof.

5 Worst thing about the Fringe?

Nothing! It is going to be a blast!

6 If you were not a performer/comedian what would you be doing?

I would have become a politician, they are the closest things to comedians/performers - look at Donald Trump. Oh sorry, he is just a clown.

7 How do you combat pre-gig nerves?

As a hypnotist we learn many techniques to quell ours nerves. I use deep breathing (the relaxation response) and positive Imagery.

8 Worst on stage experience?

I have never had one. I enjoy every minute. The good, the bad and the ugly.

9 How do you recover from a hefty heckle? Do you have a set of stock replies?

Never happens to me. Hecklers are scared I may turn them into a chicken (or use some other Jedi mind trick on them).

I like the kilts, I wish I could wear one but my legs are too skinny.

I have never been but the fringe is a great place to start

12 What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?
