Cie Ea Eo in association with Aurora Nova present All The Fun at Underbelly Circus Hub during August.

1. Tell us about your Fringe show

Juggling is a useless thing, and this show pays homage to this beautiful uselessness, because uselessness is everywhere in our lives, and removes the most preciously good. The show is a rain dance that turns into a rave party, where juggling replaces glo-sticks and hallucinogens.

2. How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

It makes us very nervous to be honest. We know the festival by reputation, we know it’s both exhausting and exciting. And we’re not exhausted yet, we are really excited! It is a really amazing opportunity to present the show, and we’re keen to bring the audience into our universe and find out what we love about juggling.

3. Best thing about the Fringe?

Performing in front of audiences and industry professionals who would otherwise not get a chance to see the show.

4. Worst thing about the Fringe?

The promotion part. Trying to convince people to come and see our show, and at the same time understanding that they can get tired of hearing the same thing from every single artist all the time.

5. If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

Going to see EVERY circus show, randomly picking three stand-up shows, and going to see a totally random show, without knowing even what kind of show it is

6. How do you combat pre-gig nerves?

There are five of us, and each one has their own trick. Some practice apnea (holding your breath), because this breathing technique is all about slowing down the heartbeat. But, sometimes the pressure is too much and we need to just jump around.

7. Craziest on-stage experience?

Performing an extract of our previous show at Festival International du Cirque de Demain in Paris in 2012, in front of 4000 people. So intense.

We won the Cirque du Soleil Trophy and still haven’t processed that.

8. Worst on stage experience?

During a performance for schools, three teachers decided to leave the show, right in the middle, and take all their pupils with them. That’s 60 people leaving at the same time. We thought they maybe had a bus to catch or something.

It turned out that they were shocked by a scene with two men kissing. We were extremely sad.

9. What do you love about Scotland?

Weird, but true: bagpipe music. We bought a compilation last time we were in Scotland.

10. What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

Wearing a kilt with no underwear.

11. Sum up your show in three words

Juggling, scribbling, raveparty.
