The new Pixar movie, Incredibles 2, is to be screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this year.

The animated sequel will be shown on June 24 at the Festival Theatre.

The 'family gala' will be held before it enters cinemas on July 13.

The festival (EIFF) has previously shown a series of Pixar movies, including WALL•E, Toy Story 3, Inside Out and Finding Dory.

Mark Adams, Artistic Director of the EIFF, said: "The Incredibles won hearts the world over with its fun and exciting adventures and it’s an honour to be continuing our long-standing relationship with Disney and Pixar Animation Studios to deliver this special, superpowered sequel to our younger audiences and their families."

Incedibles 2 stars Holly Hunter, Craig T Nelson, and Samuel L Jackson, among others.

It is written and directed by Brad Bird, who made The Iron Giant, Ratatouille and The Incredibles.

The main programme of the festival will be announced by Mr Adams, at Filmhouse on 23 May.
