Highlands-based traditional music group Session A9 have announced an eight-date Scottish tour to take place during September. The septet, which features a four-fiddle frontline of Charlie McKerron of Capercaillie, Gordon Gunn, Adam Sutherland, and Norway-based Shetlander Kevin Henderson, is a former winner of Best Live Act at the Scots Trad Music Awards and has released four albums since it undertook its first tour in 2001. The September dates begin at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye (4th) and continue at Assembly Rooms, Wick (5th), Dundee Flower Show (6th), Lemon Tree, Aberdeen (7th), Mareel, Lerwick (8th), Universal Hall, Findhorn (9th), Drygate Brewery, Glasgow (10th), and Glassel Hall, Glassel, Aberdeenshire (12th).

Guitarist Claude Bourbon, pictured, has arranged a series of concerts in Scotland to coincide with his two Edinburgh Fringe appearances at the Acoustic Music Centre @ St Brides on August 20 and 24. Bourbon, who was born in France and studied classical guitar in Switzerland, is known throughout Europe and America for performances that take blues, Spanish, Middle Eastern, and Russian folk influences into uncharted territories. He plays Thistle Tavern, Dunfermline on Thursday, August 19, Victory Hall, Benderloch (21st), Bank Street Gallery, Kirriemuir (22), and A’ the Airts, Sanquhar (23).

Pianist David Patrick releases his jazz adaptation of Stravinski’s The Rite of Spring on CD to coincide with its Edinburgh Fringe run. Patrick, who is currently accompanying Kurt Weill specialist Bremner Duthie in Weill at Heart at the Jazz Bar and acting as musical director for Todd Gordon’s Frank Sinatra centenary celebration at the Assembly Rooms, premiered his Jazz Rites of Spring in May 2013 to critical acclaim and presents it with his octet at the Jazz Bar in Chambers Street from Monday, August 24 to Saturday, August 30. davidpatrickmusic.com

Glasgow-based musician Shona Brown completes her 10in10 project with the release of a new song, You Are My Music, featuring her primary instrument, flute, alongside harmonised vocals and ambient electronics. Brown, who set herself the challenge of releasing a new recording on the tenth of every month for ten months, appeared in her one-woman show on the Edinburgh Fringe at Lauriston Hall last week.
