HERALD music writer Nicola Meighan has a summer Friday night show starting on BBC Radio Scotland tomorrow. For the next 10 weeks, she'll be playing soul, pop, disco, post-punk, rockabilly, indie and more alongside new, alternative and classic Scottish music. Her show will also celebrate home-grown record labels – from Chemikal Underground to 53rd and 3rd – and include interviews with some of Scotland's best-loved artists about their best-loved songs.

The first show, which starts at 11pm tomorrow evening, sees her talking to Danny Wilson frontman Gary Clark about the story of the band's classic hit Mary's Prayer.

HOT on the heels of the National Theatre's tour of Sally Cookson's Bristol Old Vic adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre – and the acclaimed production returns for a week at His Majesty's in Aberdeen at the end of August – Chapterhouse Theatre Company arrives in Scotland on Saturday with its own open-air version of the novel. This evening at 7pm there is a free, but ticketed performance at Castlemilk Stables on the south side of Glasgow and on Saturday evening the company is the guest of Historic Environment Scotland at Stirling Castle.

Lorna Ewan, Head of Visitor Experience, Content and Learning at Historic Environment Scotland said: “Drama and story-telling are at the heart of Stirling Castle’s history. Its Queen Anne Garden, overlooked by the royal palace, provides a magical venue for outdoor theatre productions."

Doors open at 6.45pm for the 7.30pm performance, with tickets available online and at the door.
