New trustees unveiled by Galleries

Six new trustees to the board of the National Galleries of Scotland have been announced.

Alistair Dodds was chief executive of Highland Council for six years until August 2013 and is former company secretary to Eden Court Theatre, Inverness. Edward Green is a specialist in jewellery and antiques and has been deputy chairman of Garrard the Crown Jewellers and managing director of Mappin & Webb.

Benny Higgins was chief executive of HBOS in their retail banking divisions. He took the helm at Tesco Bank in 2008 following Tesco's buyout of the RBS share. Tari Lang is an expert on "reputation risk and management, and leadership development" and currently sits on the board of the National Theatre of Scotland, the Edinburgh International Festival Council and the Nominating Council of Women of the Year.

Professor Nick Pearce holds the Sir John Richmond chair of fine art at the Glasgow University. Willie Watt is chief executive of Martin Currie Investment Management Ltd.

These appointments are for four years.

Brunton stages live screenings

The Brunton venue in Musselburgh is to host National Theatre Live screenings from the end of this month. National Theatre Live is the National Theatre in London's project to broadcast theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the UK and world.

National Theatre Live screenings will take place in the venue's recently refurbished Venue 1.

The first screening will be of the Donmar Warehouse production of Coriolanus, which stars Tom Hiddleston, Mark Gatiss and Birgitte Hjort Sørenson and is directed by the Donmar's artistic director Josie Rourke.

Future National Theatre Live screenings include the original stage production of War Horse and King Lear, directed by Oscar winning director Sam Mendes and starring Simon Russell Beale.

Coriolanus will be screened on January 30 at 7pm.
