Finest Years, Churchill as Warlord 1940-45, by Max Hastings. What's next to read on the list? Summer reading of the final volumes of Vincent Van Gogh, the Letters, by Leo Jansen, Hans Luijten & Nienke Bakker Where and when do you usually read? I usually read at our place on Mull, where we go to chill out. However I can also be found burning the midnight oil ! Name your all time favourite book and why. I have many favourite books. I read The Bible daily, with the Book of Psalms my favourite ...some of the most beautiful words and poetry of all time are there in the Psalms. I also read Robert Burns regularly ...I have a tiny tartan bound copy I keep in my painty studio jacket. However, probably my most favourite book is the Biography of N.C. Wyeth by David Michaelis. Wyeth was an American painter of the early 20th century. This book shows every aspect of his life..and mirrors much of the life any painte ...an ordinary life with many ups and downs! Which author is your secret gulity pleasure? I really don't have guilty pleasures in my reading. Should I have? Am I missing something? Which book have you been unable to finish? I could not finish When I heard the bell: the loss of the Iolaire by John MacLeod. I have all of his books...he is one of our best writers...however I just was so upset by the story which I knew well as my family are from Harris John MacLeod paints such a detailed picture...as if you were there...full of life and death and heroism and ordinary people from The Long Island. I had to stop reading it...however I keep saying to myself "Pull yourself together Morrison"...so will pick it up again one day. Do you read books electronically? No, I do not use electronic books...do not like them... love love love the physical contact with THE BOOK...always will...handling a book is very tactile for me. Will there always be books in printed form? I think there will be..although the electronic book will become more popular... however there are many people like me...who "like" the actual possession of a book...and will pay great amounts of money to own a particular book. In other words a book is a Work of Art...can you imagine the Book of Kells on Kindle?
