It is both precise and misleading to describe Edward Thomas as a war poet.

He stands alongside Rupert Brooke, Robert Graves, Siegfried Sassoon and, of course, Wilfred Owen as an artist for whom the Great War served as both an artistically creative and physically destructive force.
