LES ARBRES

These are the farmers,

the ones with tall shadows;

it could be late, it could be early,

these are the farmers of light

getting ready.

LETTING IN LIGHT

Someone opens a window

and there you are, much younger,

standing down there

beneath the branches,

anxious, uncertain.

The trees are stretched tall,

words and spring shadows

are traced on their bark;

they've felt it all before,

they can see it coming,

they open windows.
