M Squared Lasers is the highest placed Scottish business in the Deloitte 2012 Technology Fast 50.

The Glasgow company, which makes lasers and other photonic devices for a range of industries and applications, gets around half of its sales from the US, with a further one-third from Asia.

It was placed eighth in the UK in the survey, which measures the fastest growing tech businesses.

Bionic hand maker Touch Emas, flight search engine Skyscanner, telecoms firm Pinnacle Technology and vibration monitoring company Reactec were the other businesses to make the cut.

Paul Copland, director at Deloitte and head of the Technology Fast 50 in Scotland, said: "M Squared Lasers placed great focus on research and development to drive the business forward."
