TOY store chain Hamleys has released results for the year to March 31 showing a 70% rise in operating profits to £3.9 million.

UK and Ireland sales were up by 3.8% on a year earlier and by 6.3% on a like-for-like basis.

Hamleys has four standalone stores, including one in the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow, as well as three travel-based outlets and 20 international sites.

French toy specialist Groupe Ludendo paid £60 million for Hamleys in September.
