GLASGOW Caledonian University has signed a partnership agreement with global engineering corporation Doble.

The agreement will see a £1.2 million innovation centre opened in the university's city campus.

Doble, which operates in more than 100 countries, specialises in diagnostic test instruments for the electrical power industry and the deal marks its first major Scottish venture.

The new centre will work on projects in areas including assessing the condition of high voltage systems and ways to improve the reliability and integrity of power stations.
