A HUSBAND-and-wife team are hoping to grow their graphic design agency following on from the biggest project win in its history.

Taste Design, formed by Claire and Gus MacIntyre in 2007, won the three-way pitch to create a new brand identity for Edinburgh Airport following its takeover by Global Infrastructure Partners in the summer.

On the back of the contract award in October, the agency hired two members of creative staff to help them fulfill the brief by early January.

The Edinburgh firm hopes to retain those two people and is pitching for other large contracts in 2013 which could allow it to expand again.

Mr MacIntyre, creative director, said: "In many ways we started the agency at the worst possible time but have managed to keep things going, which we are quite proud of.

"Winning the Edinburgh Airport pitch was fantastic and we are working with them on getting the new brand put in and around the airport.

"This is the kind of work we are looking to do and the type of contracts we are striving for.

"If we can continue to win ones like this we can grow and all the things that go with that."

The agency is already working on a number of pitches for further large projects in 2013, across a wide range of sectors.

Mr MacIntyre said: "Like any business we want to grow and employ more people.

"There are a couple of things in the pipeline for next year and it is looking healthy as well.

"Hopefully we can get more of these brand jobs on board as we work across any sector."

The new Edinburgh Airport brand – with the strapline "Where Scotland meets the world" – is being added to around 3500 signs plus uniforms, equipment and merchandise.

Taste has worked with the airport on print, digital and outdoor campaigns since being appointed as preferred supplier in 2010.

Mrs MacIntyre, managing director, added: "It's exciting to think our work will be one of the first things that many visitors to the city will see when they arrive in Edinburgh."

Taste's other clients have included Edinburgh International Conference Centre, whisky brand Glenmorangie and catering giant Sodexo.
