CAIRNGORM Windows has agreed a deal to supply solar panels to a housebuilder for possible inclusion in properties across Scotland.
The window manufacturer will supply panels that will be incorporated in show homes on sites marketed by Springfield Properties, including ones in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Buyers will be able to choose to have the panels installed in properties they buy from Springfield.
Inverness-based Cairngorm said a retrospective discount will be offered to recent Springfield buyers who want to add panels.
Joyce Napier, northern sales manager for Springfield Properties, said the company has seen growing demand from buyers for technologies such as solar power generation to be included in homes.
"Springfield intends to build between 400 and 500 homes in 2013, and if only 15% of their homebuyers then commit to acquiring panels, it could be worth £500,000 to us," said Cairngorm managing director David Dowling.
The company said it achieved an additional £5 million revenue in the year to August after investing an initial £500,000 in solar panels, sourced from overseas manufacturers.
It has supplied panels for commercial and domestic properties.
