SCOTLAND'S hotel market was mixed in November, according to a survey.

Across the country as a whole, occupancy was down 0.3%, compared with a 0.6% fall in England and a 2% rise in Wales.

Revenue in Scotland increased 6.8% and by 8.7% in Wales although there was a 1.8% dip in England.

The study, by accountancy firm PKF, showed Glasgow and Aberdeen both recorded occupancy above 80% while Edinburgh was 69.7% and Inverness 58.9%.

Revenue per room was the highest in Aberdeen at £63.96, then Glasgow at £56.32, Edinburgh on £49.58 and Inverness at £28.70.

Alastair Rae, of PKF, said the capital and Inverness had suffered due to reduced tourism and leisure visitors.

Energy sector spending in Aberdeen helped boost the city's performance.
