VERINT Systems has agreed to buy Kana Software, which is believed to employ around 200 people in Scotland, for around £315 million.

Data analytics software company Verint, based in Long Island, New York and with its only UK office in Weybridge, Surrey, said the agreement will give it access to around 900 new customers.

The transaction is scheduled to complete before the end of April.

Dan Bodner, chief executive of Verint, said he believed there was a strong cultural fit between the two businesses.

Verint's products are used by 10,000 clients, including government agencies and large corporates in 150 countries.

Mark Duffell, chief executive of Kana, said: "Our management team is excited about the opportunity to join a global technology leader like Verint."

Kana, which has its headquarters in Silicon Valley, California, bought Renfrewshire-based call centre software specialist Ciboodle from French technology giant Sword Group in July 2012 for an undisclosed sum.

Sword Group had paid around £30m for the Scottish company, formerly Graham Technology, in March 2008.
