ABERDEEN-based HVAC & Refrigeration Engineering is to invest £3 million in new premises after securing £11m worth of orders by the end of the first quarter of its new financial year.

The orders secured in the first three month of its financial year are worth as much to the company, which supplies heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to the oil industry, as its total sales last year.

It now plans to add as many as 18 more workers to its 90-strong workforce.

HVAC & Refrigeration Engineering managing director, Raymond Davidson, said: "We won a number of significant orders towards the end of 2013, some of the biggest in our company's 15-year history."

Its investment in premises will include a custom-built manufacturing facility.

Mr Davidson continued: "These new premises will represent a logical step for us as a business and help us continue to grow and develop our offering, both from a product perspective and geographically.

"As a result, it is predicted that we will increase our 90 staff by as much as 20% over the course of 2014.

"As a specialist engineering and manufacturing company in a niche market we are finding increasing demand from international oil, gas and petrochemical related clients."
