Scotland's largest pork processing plant has announced plans to almost double its total capacity.

Brechin-based AP Jess has been awarded £2.66 million by the Scottish Government for a major upgrade and extension, which could create up to 20 full-time jobs at the site, as well as supporting a further 42 posts.

Scottish farms produce around £81m of pig meat annually for processing but the industry suffered a severe blow when the Halls of Broxburn plant in West Lothian shut down more than a year ago with the loss of hundreds of jobs.
