A CONTRACTING firm which emerged from the former Rok business in Scotland has posted a 20% hike in turnover to £10 million.

Korrie indicated 2013 would be another profitable year once figures were audited and said it had plans to add to its workforce of 95.

The Inverness firm, which also has bases in Fort William and Thurso, originally started more than three years ago as a mechanical and plumbing specialist but now works across the electrical, small maintenance and renewable energy parts of the market as well.

Managing director Donnie Fraser said the company picked up £5.5m worth of contracts relating to biomass, solar and ground source heat pumps last year. As a result of that it is opening a £250,000 renewable energy showroom near to its current headquarters.

Mr Fraser was a founder of the former Corrie Plumbing and Heating business which was part of Tulloch Group. Tulloch was sold to Rok in 2006 but the parent group collapsed in 2010.

Mr Fraser said: "We're a totally Highland-owned business now and we plan to add a services division this year. But we'll focus on quality rather than quantity.

"I don't want us to overstretch and lose the emphasis on quality which has earned us business and a good reputation."
