HUTCHISON Whampoa's mobile network Three has said it more than doubled operating profit to £207 million last year, from £101m in 2012, after it added 565,000 new customers.

It stated that all of its 7.9 million customers were on a 4G tariff but only 1.7 million are actually using 4G devices. Total revenue grew by 5% to £2.04 billion.

Richard Woodward, chief financial officer, said: "With revenue topping £2 billion, costs falling and operating profit doubling, Three is delivering consistent, profitable growth."
