SUPERMARKET group Morrisons will attempt this week to calm shareholders by unveiling a programme of price cuts to take on the discounters and trigger £500 million of property sales, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Telegraph report.

The moves have been billed as an attempt by the retailer, which reports its full-year results on Thursday, to restore confidence after a difficult Christmas and to take on Lidl and Aldi.

Chief executive Dalton Philips is also expected to update investors on Morrisons' drive into the convenience store sector, and on its plans for an online grocery ordering service with Ocado.

Jane Shepherdson, boss of ladies high street clothing chain Whistles, has called for quotas to be introduced to ensure there are more females in FTSE-100 boardrooms, says The Sunday Telegraph.

The Mail on Sunday and The Sunday Times focus on the bonus scheme at advertising giant WPP, with reports chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell has landed shares worth £22m to £23m.

A study of Scotland's highest earners has found there are more people working in the health service earning more than £150,000 than there are in the finance sector, reports the Sunday Herald. Based on research from the Scottish Parliament's Information Centre (SPICe), it reports the 13.4% of the top earners work in "human health and social work activities", compared with 11.5% in "financial and insurance activities".

Poundland could debut on the stock market with a valuation of £750m when it floats this week, reports The Sunday Telegraph. It could be joined on the market by the owner of Moonpig.com, which The Sunday Times says is mulling a float which could see it valued at £500m.
