HSBC Holdings has appointed Jonathan Symonds, former finance director of pharmaceuticals giant Novartis, as chairman of its UK and European arm HSBC Bank.
He will also become non-executive director of the parent group. Mr Symonds has previously held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca and KPMG and was finance director at Novartis from 2009 to 2013.
