Hall hires McKenzie

CHARTERED surveying firm DM Hall has hired Neil McKenzie as its marketing manager.

A marketing graduate from the University of Strathclyde, Mr McKenzie has previously held roles in the marketing teams at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and at accountancy firm Deloitte.

Mr McKenzie said: "I am very pleased to have been appointed marketing manager at DM Hall, especially at a time when confidence is returning to the property market in both the residential and commercial sectors.

"There are lots of new marketing initiatives we are keen to develop as a firm, both to bolster our corporate social responsibility credentials and to maintain the DM Hall brand at the forefront of our clients' minds."

Wallace on stream

BUSINESS Stream, the non-domestic water services company, has appointed Charlene Wallace as its new director of customer operations.

Ms Wallace, formerly customer services director at Monarch Airlines, will oversee the firm's customer service, metering, billing and teams in the newly-created role.

As well as working for Monarch, she has held senior customer service and business development roles at firms in the transport and events industries, including Virgin Trains.

Ms Wallace said: "This is a challenging role and an exciting time to join the company. Business Stream has a very high standard of ambition for customer service, and I've been impressed to find a culture and team who are dedicated to fulfilling that."

The appointment comes as Business Stream prepares for the introduction of competition to the water retail market in England from 2017.

Mason new associate

UK law firm DWF has expanded its Edinburgh real estate team by hiring Paul Mason as senior associate.

Mr Mason, who trained and qualified at Maclay Murray & Spens, joins from Eversheds, where he played a key role in building its Edinburgh-based real estate team.

DWF said he brings to the firm extensive experience in real estate, notably in acting for landlords and tenants in lease transactions, and has dealt with purchasers and sellers of commercial property, banks, funders and property developers. He has also acted for the sponsors and funders of wind energy projects.

Iain McLean, partner and head of retail group at DWF, said: "We are committed to strengthening our real estate and retail presence in Scotland and Paul's expertise will really help galvanise our offering to clients.

Scott builds on bto team

INDEPENDENT Scottish law firm bto has appointed Julie Scott as an associate in its construction and engineering team.

Ms Scott, formerly of Burness Paull, specialises in construction and engineering dispute resolution. She brings more than five years' experience to the role.

Based in Edinburgh, Ms Scott advises on litigation, construction arbitration, adjudication and mediation, and acts for employers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and insurers. Sandra Cassels, who leads bto's construction and engineering team in Edinburgh, said: "Julie shares the team's enthusiasm for collaborative working with clients to achieve success and bto's clients will benefit from the wealth of specialist knowledge."
