EAGLE Couriers has said it hopes to shave 250,000 miles off its annual travelling by investing in vehicle trackers and journey planning software.

The independent firm, thought to be the largest of its type in Scotland, has plans to recycle 650 tyres, 1100 pallets and 1500 litres of oil as part of a drive towards more sustainable practices across the business.

Finance director Fiona Deas said the business was reducing waste and costs.

Eagle, which has its headquarters in Bathgate, West Lothian and runs more than 100 vans, was recently awarded the ISO 14001 certification for environmental management.
