Paul Hughes, channel editor for STV Glasgow, said: "This is a hugely exciting opportunity to launch a brand new channel for Scotland's largest city.

"We want to celebrate everything that's great about Glasgow and reflect what is happening in this truly unique city each day."

The venture is being done in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University with students getting experience of working in a live broadcast environment.

A channel for Edinburgh, run with support from Edinburgh Napier University, is scheduled to launch later this year.
