Delivery chain Domino's Pizza posted another surge in sales thanks to record-breaking take-up of its "winter survival" meal deal.

The group said the £14.99 offer - including any large pizza as well as garlic bread, potato wedges and twisted dough balls - was its most popular ever meal deal, helping UK like-for-like sales rise 10.8% in its first quarter.

Its sales surge came after a particularly strong start to its financial year when like-for-like growth hit 14.6% in the first seven weeks, with trading also flattered by weak comparatives after snow had hit sales in the early weeks of 2013.

Domino's has likewise been reaping the benefits of a burgeoning online offering, with internet and mobile sales rising by a quarter to £103 million in the 13 weeks to March 30.

Online revenues now make up more than two thirds - 69% - of all delivered sales in the UK, with orders via smartphones and tablet computers representing 34% of all internet business.

Analysts at Panmure Gordon described the performance as "robust".
