A pair of Glasgow-based business partners are reporting success a year after they started their own bus tour company.

Claire MacDonald and Kevin Miller established Eclipse Breaks after identifying that no other Scottish coach operator offered door-to-door pick-up services for holidaymakers.

After a year in business, they have taken more than £1million in bookings, amounting to around 4,000 passengers travelling to more than 30 destinations across the UK and Ireland.

They have now increased their routes to nearly 50 destinations, and have added European Tours and Jersey by air.

Customers are picked up from their front door and taken to a central point to meet the coach which will take them on their holiday. This also means that the length of time holidaymakers are on the coach, before hitting the road, can be reduced as there are fewer pick-up points than with other coach tours.

Ms MacDonald said: "The pick-up has been a big attraction for our customers. It relieves that stress of worrying about how to get to your pick-up point, particularly for our elderly customers.

"But it's more than that, we use quality hotels, many of which are exclusive to us in Scotland, and the feedback from our customers has been outstanding. People were getting fed up seeing the same hotels offered by every company, so they're telling us Eclipse is like a breath of fresh air. "

The most popular tours include the Dalmeny Hotel in St Anne's, near Blackpool, and the Coppice Hotel in Torquay, as well as the Scottish Highland Railways tour.
